carrots are not good for your eyes, thats a myth started in WW2. it was told to british fighter pilots to give them confidence, truth is, carrots are all they had to eat.

The comment of Ben is correct. The Brits did start this carrots are good for the eyes because they needed to hide from the Germans why the British pilots where fighting so well. To say it was carrots hid the fact that the RAF had significantly improved their radar systems and aided greatly in night (and day) fighting.
Rae is also correct, vitamin A is excellent for the eyes. Too little vitamin A will cause blindness.
